VOLUNTEERS

Adrenaline-fueled canoes and kayaks will take to the Oklahoma River in the 2008 USA Canoe/Kayak National Championship on August 5th-9th. Paddlers from across the U.S. will compete in four days of intense racing with national championships on the line.

The Chesapeake Boathouse would like to extend you the opportunity to volunteer for this truly historic event in a variety of areas. Volunteers are the backbone to the success of any event of this size and we cannot thank you enough for your time and dedication. This event demands a large volunteer force so any time that you are able to give will help the event succeed!

Canoe/Kayak events require various groups of volunteers including:

  • Stake Boat Holders: Work to ensure a fair start of each boat by holding the boats in place at the starting dock! This is a GREAT view of the races and an exciting place to be!
  • Boat Control: To help USACK officials facilitate the process of weighing of each individual boat to ensure equality in racing by assisting or monitoring boats from the water to the boat control area, and weighing & sizing randomly selected boats.
  • Hospitality Sales: Sell healthy snacks and beverages to athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators while keeping the hospitality area of the Boathouse fully stocked.

Volunteer Opportunities

Dates: August 5th-9th
Shift times: 3-4 hour shifts (Morning/Mid-Day/Afternoon)

All volunteers will receive an official USA Canoe/Kayak Nationals T-shirt and a meal voucher! This is a great way to not only volunteer your time but to experience all that the Oklahoma River has to offer.
